I know you can get the seeds, but that isn't the market. I don't have the
statistics, but I would bet that over 95 percent of gardeners who want
impatiens don't want them enough to grow them from seed. I'm not a total
dufus when it comes to gardening, and I have problems growing impatiens
in house conditions from seed.
I have a problem in that my weekly column runs in a wide (regional) area.
When I wrote for one newspaper, I could tip off growers that I was going
to write about a particular cultivar. I can't do that now.
That's why I like the big marketers and big chains. I can talk about
certain plants with a reasonable expectation that Joe Sixpack (I mean
sixpacks of flowers, of course) will run across them.
