I am looking for private gardens that have a Wow!
factor in the Seattle area for our group, The American Ivy Society, to visit
next year. We are sophisticated gardeners who once a year travel to
different parts of the U.S. and Europe visiting special gardens.
Next year we want to go the Seattle area, travel to
Victoria, possibly to Vancouver and leave from the airport in Seattle.
Dates are still flexible while I arrange trip.
Stephen, I notice you are in the Seattle area. Any
suggestions?
Sorry for sending this message to the whole group, but I
don't have Stephen's email address.
Thanks,
Suzanne Pierot, President
American Ivy Society

Julie,
My garden was been published in the BHG specialty
publication Garden Deck & Landscape in summer 2000. The photos
were taken in 1997 after I won first prize in the Pacific Northwest Garden
Contest. It seemed like forever and the local writer did the text (not
even a gardener).

Subject: [GWL] Advice Re. Better
Homes and Gardens
I sent an e-query plus
scout photos to Doug Hall at Better Homes last week regarding an unusual,
very photogenic garden in Southern California. He replied the next
day that they have a "convoluted" way of producing articles there, and
that the scout for an article rarely writes it. I doubt the owner of
this garden would be comfortable with anyone else writing the article
(she's the wife of a Hollywood actor--but doesn't want that part played
up, which I haven't in another article I did for a regional). I just
wanted to know what kind of experience other GWAA members have had with
BHG. I haven't written for them before. I did mention in my
query my numerous garden writing credentials, including my lastest book
Readers's Digest Flower Gardening. Thanks for any input,
Julie Bawden Davis
