Re: Polymers- jello and other bans

Duane might be the voice of sanity. It is the dose that makes the poison.
I have a similar problem with ban on pesticides for "cosmetic use" in the
province of Ontario that will come into effect next year. Products like
Killex and Round-up will not longer by legal to sell in Ontario.
Here's my problem: We use a tiny bit of herbicide to control Canada thistle
(the horrible spready thistle that you couldn't hand weed over two acres
even if you wanted to). See
http://countrygardener.blogspot.com/2007/05/thistle-control-in-our-prairie.html
for a story about this.
On my blog I explained how we use a very tiny amount of herbicide with a
sponge applicator to control the problem. Next year by trying to keep the
best native plant garden and wildlife feature on our property from being
spoiled, I may have to become a law breaker, unless I can find a herbicide
that's allowed that works. I don't know of an alternative.
Meanwhile, the golf course across the road is still allowed to spray
pesticides (they are exempt from the ban).
