Re: garden columns


I'm now writing for a weekly magazine that is inserted into 1,300 newspapers 
across the country and have to regularly write 250 word articles on 
gardening.  A big feature is 650 words!!  It's the trend, unfortunately.

You'll be surprised how much you can pack into short articles by using 
bullets, lists and fragments, rather than sentences. It's an art I learned 
from women's service magazines, and it's the best approach to limited word 
count articles that actually have content.

Make sure your pay isn't chopped.  Demand that you get a plug at the end of 
every article listing your website or anything you want to sell.
