Re: garden columns cut

A little over a year ago Jeff Ball and I had our 950 word columns cut  
to 450
  and that includes my signature which contains both my e-mail and  
our blog. The managing editor of
features decided he wanted the Real Simple look with photos and  
graphics.  I refer readers
to the blog or Jeff's website, yardener.com for more info. The good  
news is we got a raise.

In spite of the size reduction, my speaking schedule exploded this  
summer and I had records crowds. I was booked
for every Saturday and Sunday through the month of April. March used  
to be the big thrust. Over 350 people turned
out at one garden center. Wouldn't you know, the mike crapped out.
