writing fees
I'm still catching up with the outpouring that resulted from my question
about rates! I guess I hit a nerve. Thank you all so much. If you haven't
answered yet, please consider yourself thanked and write in as well.
I have indeed been recycling articles in other publications. And I do love
writing the column, if for no other reason than it forces me to write, when
I would probably be more lax. It seems to be a pretty popular feature of the
newspaper. However, I've already been told that $60 is the maximum they pay
for anything!
So here's a related question. Where do I go with my columns now? What are
some good publications for a good writer without much published?
Also, is it worthwhile putting the columns together for a book? Or does one
have to be on par with Shakespeare and as amusing as Robin Williams to be
picked up by a publisher in the current market?
Do you folks write because you can't stop yourselves for the joy of it or
are you financially successful?
Thanks,
Fran
Boston
