Re: Fw: garden columns

I already do what many of you suggest - bullet points, lists, info
boxes, links, which have been included in the 500 word count. You are
right, though, about having to strip any personality from the piece.
I already pretty much limit myself to one topic.

In the last six months, I've spoken to more than 2,000 people at
various events in the state, I'm pretty secure there. I have taken to
posting some of my columns on my Indiana Living Green Web site, but
not all of the columns fit that philosophy, although I am a natural
gardener and that's what I write about...no 24D in my columns.

It's just distressing. The paper allows citizens to cover school
board meetings, take photos at various events, etc., which gets run
in the actual paper, not just posted on The Star's Web site. The
press is the only profession mentioned in the Consitution, yet
today's papers fritter away that right and responsiblity with no fact
checking, balance or anything else. They are filling space and they
don't have to pay anyone to do it.

Don't get me started.
