As an ex-radio news reporter, I LOVE writing short pieces ... it actually sharpens your writing skills.? Just look at some of the garden blogs ... you'll notice that you can pack almost all the info you need into 350 words easily.? Standard wire service stories rarely run more than 300-400 words, either. 

And any writing for anyone should pay at least $1.00 per word.
