Re: Bio-control for dandelions expected soon

There may be an antipathy towards slaying the noble dandelion held by many
of the members on this list.

I suggest, for the moment, that is neither here nor there.

There is a bigger picture to look at- suburban Canada.(Or any other place
where such legislation is enacted.) Those denizens are going to kill the
dandelion. The proposed Ontario legislation will remove the simplest way for
them to that by changing weed and feed fertilisers to just feed.
In Halifax, post-ban, one fellow used gasoline as a herbicide. It is quite
effective. One shudders to think what those upper Canadians might come up
with.

So this granular bio-cide is welcomed by me.

For those of you who have checked out the Sarritor website, Dr. Alan Watson
is, indeed, the main guy. For those of you who have ever worked as graduate
students, you might be interested to know that Myron and Ina Teschler were
the McGill graduate students who explained it all to a group of eager Guelph
"weedologists" in 1998. They said they were about 10 years away from turning
the deal into a commercially viable enterprise.
