Re: master gardeners and Scotts?

Are arrangements with retail outlets and farmers markets a necessarily a bad
thing?

In Oakland County, Michigan we have a program called "Ask a Master Gardener"
at retail garden centers in May. It is a way to interact with the community
and propose good solutions to common problems. If that retailer doesn't
carry the "good" items, the public is advised where to get them. Typically,
some of the garden centers start carrying more of the items recommended by
the Master Gardeners. So, the public learns and the garden centers learn. To
me that is a good thing.

Farmers Markets are great places to help educate the public (which is why
Master Gardeners exist)...especially the public that wants to avoid
chemicals.

Yes, I'm a Master Gardener...if you hadn't guessed by now...

Just my 2 cents...
