I thought I'd point out this Guy Kawasaki post  - he's interviewing  
Darren Rowse of Problogger fame.   And it speaks to many of the points  
both garden writers as well as allied trade folks might consider in  
blogging and the Internet.

And imho you might want to have a bit of time to read this properly  
because if you're serious about blogging or learning what the Net is  
about and what it means to be a Net-writer, you're going to be
