Re: Bad mother

We were not so neighborly to our robin. Over the past 10 years, successive generations (they all look alike!) have been setting up house under our deck in a storage area. They usually start much earlier in the season, but this year the nest showed up about 3 weeks ago, got filled with 4 eggs which all hatched in the last 5 days. Normally the nest is tucked far enough back that we can still get to our gardening stuff to set up for the season without much disturbance, but this year she set up house on top of the extension ladder which is along the main path. No way we can avoid walking past a zillion times except on rainy days. At first she flew off; now she stays there and practically greets us, except when she's out foraging which is pretty much most of the time these days with those four hungry mouths always wanting to eat! My guess is she'll hurry them along. I'm sure we make her very nervous.
