Dan,

She's a beginning gardener and highly allergic to insect  
venom/juices/secretions...whatever!!  Why not suggest an indoor 
container miniature garden or fairy garden.  She can keep allergies and 
bugs under control...and have fun gardening.  If she needs help in 
deciding how to do it, suggest my book...Fairy Gardens available on 
Amazon, B&N. etc to give her some ideas.
