Garden flame weeder

I find the flame weeder most effective on tiny "thread stage" weeds
in open soil, prior to seedling emergence. They need only to be singed by
the flame, not fried to a crisp. I don't think it would be any more
effective than mowing on Japanese Knotweed tubers. It might slow it down,
but I want it to keep growing and using all its energy for regrowth so I can
scalp it again. I want to drain it, not give it a scare!
