Not a writer on the topic of gardening, but I figured that as an "average gardener" who reads the experiences of others both writers and non writers I might chime in with my opinion.

I read Brook's opinion on the Black Krim tomatoes that he grew and didn't like. And as an "average gardener" I decided not to take his word for it but test it for myself. It has nothing to do with trust, or knowledge of the person, it has everything to do with enjoying my own experiments and being stubborn at times :).

The point that I'm trying to drive home is that, I am an "average gardener", and  I don't just take the word of writers or non writers, I always experiment, and I'm sure that there are millions out there like myself.
