I've done a bit of talking with the postal service and other seed companies
the last few days and I think the news is really quite good.  It seems
reason will prevail, they don't plan to irradiate seeds and we and our
customers will continue to grow great plants from seed.
The plan now is for known postal customers who already take their mail to
the loading dock will have their mail separated.  This will also go for big
bulk mailers and I presume the banks sending out their credit cards.  For as
surely as gamma rays scramble the DNA of a seed it will also scramble the
coding on a bright shiny new bank card.
As an owner of a seed company, I plan to continue asking questions of the
seed labs, the post office and the USDA. It took a little time for these
agencies to think it through and for me to gather information but right now,
I'm reassured.  The post office is responding with a sincere effort to
ensure the safety of all our mail.  T
