Birute Earl is right.  This is a bad one.

The virus is W32.Badtrans.B.and it first surfaced on 11/24.
The problem is that you don't know you have it.  It does not mess up any
files.  If you open the file, not the enclosure but the file itself, it
simply places a "Trojan Horse" type program in your Windows/System/ folder
and sends out messages to all people sending you a message that has yet to
be opened.  Then their virus protection identifies the problem and they send
it right back to you, infecting you again if you have not taken steps to
protect yourself.  Nancy had it three times before we got the right McAffee
downloads to catch the half dozen additional hits.  To see if you have it on
your PC, go to Windows/System/ and look for a file named kernel32.exe or
kern32.exe.  If you have it, you can't just delete it because it is running
with Windows.  You have to restart your computer and go into "safe mode" and
then there are two files to be deleted.  McAfee has the details, as I
suspect do the other companies.
