Re: Stylebook committee

The newspaper I write for is a Gannett paper, and they use the AP stylebook. I'd like for them to spell "chile" as that, rather than as "chili," the name of a soup, as per AP, but I don't know how successful I've been with my plea. Margaret Lauterbach



I fight constantly my with editor (newspaper) who wants to put cultivar
names in double quotes, not single. This week she kept italicizing all over
the place. Not that a GWAA style book would help in my particular
battle---Gannett uses Gannett's style rules, and they are iron-clad.

Wow! Didn't know I had that little vent in me. Pardon.
