Re: garden photos of sample plants
Hi, C.L.!
I need more than one plant to trial in many cases simply to improve the chances of success (in the case of perennials and shrubs). If the plant makes it for at least 2 seasons, then it gets in an article or presentation. The photo may or may not be mine. I sometimes defer to the grower/sender for their artwork.
Plants that consistently don't make it in my garden -- like Weigela My Monet -- keep me humble and also push me to learn more about the plant before I write it off. My Monet, e.g., I've learned is a stickler for great drainage and hates clay which is pretty much what I've got most everywhere. The last one I received got planted over the drainage field of our septic system and Voila! it's thriving. So there you have it for that one.
All I focus on is plant performance. Nothing interests me about a grouping/design and photos are dealt with later.
