The best bean I've grown is a half runner, La Vigneronne, which seems
to be available only in Europe. It's so good and sweet fresh from the
garden that very few of them made it into the house. I haven't come
across Dutch half runners in my search for other great-tasting pole
beans, but I've come across a few sources for other promising beans
(SSE would be my first choice if I had a larger garden!):
Sand Hill Preservation in Iowa (which doesn't accept seed orders
until late December) and 2 Canadian companies
