The best bean I've grown is a half runner, La Vigneronne, which seems 
to be available only in Europe. It's so good and sweet fresh from the 
garden that very few of them made it into the house. I haven't come 
across Dutch half runners in my search for other great-tasting pole 
beans, but I've come across a few sources for other promising beans 
(SSE would be my first choice if I had a larger garden!):

Sand Hill Preservation in Iowa (which doesn't accept seed orders 
until late December) and 2 Canadian companies
