Thanks for your note about the deer problem.  Regarding gates.  I purchased
two  8 ft sections of fencing (8 x 8) and use them as halves of a gate.
Works well, and looks ok.

I was told by the expert for the U.S. Dept of Agriculture that deer can jump
high and they can jump wide, but they can't jump high AND wide.  Therefore
they suggested that fences not be erected straight up, but at an angle.  I
have done this, and it works as long as nothing is touching the fence.  It's
a lousy job to police the fence for falling branches and weeds.

The deer which are protected year round in my area are not afraid of
anything.  Even if you yell at them and wave your arms they look at you with
disdain.
