You raise a good point here. I am often asked to find a source for a plant that someone is
looking for - and while I am able to locate the plant, often I know nothing, either good or bad,
about the source. In that case I will tell people that X nursery carries it but that I cannot
vouch for their reputation.
But I have also been guilty of recommending a place simply because I have seen others recommend
it - and then ordering from the place and finding it wholly unsatisfactory.
Once such place, for me, was Glasshouse Works, which I had ordered from last year - in spring,,
before the start of the gardening season. I ordered several plants that would be annuals in my
garden - and then, if I liked them I might attempt to overwinter them indoors.
The arrived in Autumn, just before the first frost and so basically were useless. They DID say
that shipping might be slow due to the volume of business - but I think 5 months is pushing it.
