editors and Gresham's law

When I wrote my book the publisher sent the manuscript to an editor. After the book came out I couldn't find any text which had been changed, although there probably was some. But the editor did a magnificent job in rearranging and restructuring what I had written. I wrote well, organized badly. That's one thing an editor can do for a writer. (If that editor is on this list, please write me off-line.)

The slide/digital discussion is, I think, an example of the application of Gresham's law. At least in 2003, the inferior digital is driving out the superior slide. That may change over time, since film has had a century of innovation and improvement. And, it's not useful to compare what can be done with thousands of dollars of equipment, rather than what is available to most.
