Re: Future locations of Symposium
Oklahoma:
Highest Point: Black Mesa; 4,973 feet
Lowest Point: Little River; 287 feet
diffrence: 1428 m/4686 feet
Ontario
Highest Point: 693 m/2,274 ft., Ishpatina Ridge.
Lowest Point: Sea level, Hudson Bay
difference: 693 m/2,274 ft.,
According to the EPA, Oklahoma has the most diverse terrain in the United
States, calculated on a mile-per-mile basis. [4]
The state's topography changes starkly from East to West and West to East;
oak, hickory and pine forests in the wetter and more mountainous eastern
third of the state contrast with the post oak and blackjack oak forests of
the Cross Timbers territory of Central Oklahoma, while mesas and several
small mountain ranges, such as the mesa-dominated Glass Mountains near Enid,
and the rugged Wichita Mountains near Lawton, mesh with the steriotypically
semi-arid plains of western Oklahoma.
