Re: Future locations of Symposium

At this time, GWA opted not to go to Quebec City for its 400th
anniversary because...of the 400th anniversary. A preliminary check
revealed there were not enough accommodations for GWA because of all
the anniversary celebrations, increased tourists, etc.

Meetings in Canada also complicate greatly the vendors ability to get
their goods, especially plants, across the border. Despite the best
efforts of everyone, there were tremendous delays at the border for
the Vancouver conference. Some vendors didn't get their plants
through at all. GWA needs the vendors' support for its sympsoium, so
their inability to get their goods to us is a major concern. Perhaps
GWA could talk to the Perennial Plant Association about how it got
vendors to its Canadian conferences(s).

The GWA board assured Larry Hodgson that Quebec would be considered
again, as will other Canadian locales. As far as Region 7 and the
rest of the world, I'm holding out for a meeting in the Caribbean!
