PBS Program of Interest
I received, as probably many of you list members, the following
note. I am a big Wired Magazine fan so intend to catch this show.
While most people associate global warming with impending droughts,
floods, and species extinction, some gardeners are reaping the floral
rewards of a hotter planet. The changing biomes have enabled these
horticulturists to grow species that weren’t native to their neck of
the woods as recently as 15 years ago. What’s more, tests have shown
that global warming gases like Nitrogen and CO2 can actually boost
plant growth.
Next Wednesday 10/10, the PBS newsmagazine “Wired Science” will
explore if this is the upside of global warming or if these gardeners
just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
