Re: unusual holiday plants?

Don't forget Paperwhites or for that matter ANY bulb can be forced in time
for the holidays or gift giving. You could write about a red/white/green themed
pot or go for more trendy holiday decor color combos.

Red Bromeliads are getting a big push in holiday office decor. Check out this
Christmas tree photo here: _http://www.bromeliad.com/_
(http://www.bromeliad.com/) .

Potted, blooming Orchids are a nice premium holiday gift or decor item in
these parts.

Also I'm seeing not just painted, but GLITTERED pointsettias and ornamental
cabbage/kale/gourds/squash plus pansies and amaryllis. It certainly is cheap
enough to DIY - just spray glue and throw on a handful of glitter flakes. I
suppose garden centers can ask a premium for these dressed-up darlings. My taste?
Heck No! But hey, I love my kitschy garden gnomes and flamingos so who am I to
pass judgement?

Sincerely,
Kathy Jentz
