Re: city of gardens
Hi, Jo Ellen!
Missed you and everyone else this year at OK. Maybe next year "out west?"
Anyway, re your question and England. I would go to a city but to the Cornwall coast area and plan to spend at least 2 weeks to do it justice. There are so many interesting gardens in the immediate vicinity and within striking distance. Plus the unusual influence of the Gulf Stream that far north allows them much milder temperatures and a climate that supports tropicals like palm trees and the like. So many of the gardens are really fascinating from that dimension (or at least I think so).
For your second question re the one city anywhere, I must say that would be the New York metro area. The Botanical Gardens in the Bronx and Brooklyn are enough to keep a gardener busy for the better part of one week. Then go a little east to Queens for their Botanic Garden, then further east to Long Island for some of the gardens at the Ag schools and the greenhouses and growers, or maybe a bit into Westchester or Connecticut and you've just used up another one to two weeks. But maybe I'm not so impartial on this subject....
Best,

Subject: [GWL] city of gardens
If you were going to one city in England to see gardens, where would
that be and about how long would you need to be there to do it
justice?

I'm gathering suggestions for a client's sweepstakes pitched at
gardeners. Someone suggested Hawaii to the client, which I don't
think a gardener would be particularly interested in.
If you could get back to me by the end of the day, that would be
great. Thank you.
