Re: GWA free trial of Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index
As a member of GWA's Website Advisory Task Force I'd like to remind you that
tomorrow is the last day to take advantage of the free trial of EBSCO's GLHI
database and the Environment Complete database. The login details were sent
to members in an email dated Oct. 16th.
Keep in mind that you can email search results to yourself, so even if you
don't have an immediate need for research information, you can at least
search on your favorite genera or authors and email the results to yourself
for later perusal.
As stated below, the database currently only provides extracts. Your local
public library or college library may be able to provide access to the full
texts, especially for consumer publications.
The more long term your project, the more likely this database will benefit
you. The time frame for a book's development would permit travel to an
academic library to track down the full texts. Depending on how near the
library and how soon the deadline, this database will also benefit those
working on magazine articles. I think the current lack of full text would
hinder newspaper writing with a tight deadline, though it might give you the
name of an expert to contact for a quote.
Time passes quickly and I didn't want you to miss out on this opportunity,
especially since for some inexplicable reason the one-month trial wasn't
announced until halfway through the month.
