Benefits of gardening for kids

Hi All, 

I'm reaching out to you on behalf of our local 4-H Kids' Garden leader,
Deb Brodhecker sdbrodhecker@gmail.com . Our fairgrounds agriculture
committee has told her that the children's vegetable garden is "too
messy" and they will be taking away the plot that has been allotted for
that purpose. (This is happening on the site of the NJ State Fair -- New
Jersey, you know, The Garden State).

Deb needs some leads to scientific data or discussions that demonstrate
the benefits of gardening/agriculture for kids. I hope you all can pitch
