Re: [GWL]: OK, I'm available

I'm late at getting into this discussion but I assume it is about the uproar over the novelist, Fay Weldon, who made a deal to include the name of some watch ( a dozen times at least?) in her next book.
  This sort of thing has been suggested to me many times and I suppose if it is a good product, is it such a sin? I'm not sure really.
  Being a purist is excellent, but I find that being a writer is a tough way to make a living, and I ertainly can understand why writers might prostitute themselves this way. I expect that if the reward were large enough, tempting enough, a great many of us writers might easily fall prey to somesuch Faustian pact with the devil.
