Re: [GWL]: WTC disaster
Hi. Although we live in Wayne, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, my husband
commutes to Manhattan daily. It is only a lucky fluke that he was home on
Tuesday, preparing to take a plane to an editorial conference elsewhere.
Today he returned to New York. He is over 40 blocks from the WTC, but can
see the smoke. In fact you can't miss it. He grimly observed that the
normally crowded train car had only a single person per row of seats. The
garment district people and the midtown people were there. Those who were
headed for the Wall Street and WTC area were gone. Either they were lost in
the disaster, or they had no place to go.
Words fail me.
Graham, are you stranded somewhere nearby? Everything OK? Let me know if you
need a ride, a meal, a bed, or anything.
