Dear Tom, what you say is so right, even far away in Australia we have been
shocked and appalled and frightened by what has happened. Even though I have
not contributed much to this list I read every posting and feel that I am
getting to know you all. My heart and thoughts go out to you all and every
other American. My sister lived in Arizona for several years and only
returned home last year. She loved America and Americans who made her so
welcome. She was killed in an accident earlier this year and one of the few
good things to come out it all was the renewed appreciation of friends and
family. This weeks events have renewed all the pain associated with her
death so I think I have an inkling of what so many who have lost loved ones
are currently feeling. Any form of communication (including a garden writers
list!) that promotes inter-country/cross cultural discussion is important to
the survival of tolerance and understanding and the survival of humanity.
