The moles are after grubs and the milky spore I recommended in a previous email kills the grubs. I truly hate to kill anything but getting rid of the grubs somehow seems reasonable to me.Another thing to consider is the distribution of Japanese Beetle. I havent seen them in CA. They are in the Eastern US, Illinois and east, so writers in the rest of the country, beware of Eastern domination of garden wisdom... http://www.aphis.usda.gov/oa/pubs/jbbro.pdf We like to help people live gently on mother earth, and so we promote the use of biological methods of controlling pests. Individuals have their personal goals or desires for their landscape. We try to help them meet those goals and not poison themselves and their neighbors. The basic idea is to bring a dynamic balance between the pests and their natural enemies. Everything eats and is eaten by something else. Enhancing natural processes seems to be the most gentle approach to managing pests. Ron
