Re: hard working heucheras
Hi Colleen,
i really like this group of foliage perennials and include them in a lot of
my designs.
we have about 25 heuchera, heucherellas and tiarellas cluttering up our Cdn
zone 5 yard.
this growing season saw days about 30degC triple and our rainfall almost
halve itself during the summer.
obsidian, amethyst mist, key lime, green spice, silver scrolls, chocolate
ruffles, purple palace, and black currant all did very well as did the green
leaf bressingham hybrid
rave on put on the best show.
creme brulee and caramel are just sitting there biding their time....nice
and healthy looking but not really making any progress.
both peach melba and southern comfort flopped over and haven't really perked
up yet but the crowns look healthy enough- we'll see what happens next year.
the heucherella sweet tea is holding its own in a tough spot....dry shade.
tiarella's black snowflake, wherry's, iron butterfly and crow feather are
doing well but they're newly planted this year.
hope this is interesting and helpful
Dan
