Wow, such a hubbub over the GWA awards. Well, it's good people care (and have good suggestions)! My only two bits: I got to be a judge (indeed, a book judge, Duane) for the first time this past year. And while I found the process quite intense and compressed, I was extremely--deeply--impressed by the judges, their quality, care, knowledge, and commitment to do a good job. It was truly a wonderful experience to be a part of it. Anyone really interested in the awards might want to volunteer to judge and see it from the inside--then try to improve it.
