Judy Lowe said: "TC, If you'd like a popularity contest instead of judged
entries, please suggest it to a member of the GWA executive committee
(board). They're the ones who make and change the rules."
(I hate it when the tone of an email or comment can't quite be deciphered.)
Ms. Judy, it wasn't my suggestion to begin with so I'm wondering why you
didn't address your comment to Amy Stewart, she was the one who suggested
it. I did not, repeat DID NOT, say anything about having a "popularity
contest." You make it sound as if I'm wanting to turn the voting process
into something akin to what you see in a high school classroom.
And Mr. Holt, "viral requests for support?" Are you suggesting that
dishonesty would ensue should there be a popular vote? Furthermore, what do
you mean by: "Support from those who have no clue on the merits of the work
itself."
This isn't the first time that I've posted comments to this list and then
been made to feel like a fool for replying. I consider myself to be a
professional just like the rest of you (even though I haven't published a
book). I'm a paid GWA member voicing my opinion. Please don't make me feel
like an outsider. Or rather, I should say, please stop making me feel like
an outsider and that my opinions don't matter.
TC
