TC, I am sure that Judy meant no disrespect to you, although her saying

"popularity contest" seemed slightly overloaded or hasty to me, too.

Personally, I don't want the public to vote for GWA awards, but then my

books deal with narrow subjects or small geographic regions.

Individuals might support one or another item that they know and like, but

would not be familiar with all the competition. There could also be email

blasts and columnists asking their readers to vote and providing links.
