Thanks for the plug but for now, you can hold off on this.  I'm way too busy already and don't want to serve as a forum cop.  Shoot, right now, you can't even get to the discussion forum section (had to tighten up security and now it's TOO tight).

I used to spend a fair amount of time on the Garden Web forum, but while the people are friendly, I finally got the impression that it is was more like a chat line with a Hosta gardening emphasis.   Most participants are wonderful people and quite friendly but you couldn't hold an online seminar on Hosta Sports there--wouldn't raise enough interest to keep the thread moving forward.

When Spike kicked off a President of a Hosta Society here in the US of A, I knew it was time to search elsewhere for information about Hostas.  But as for his job of policing, when you're number one in your field, you're going to cross the finish line all alone.  Winning is not about making everyone a friend, it's about being the best at what you do.

As for advertisements, the only "advertisement" there is my email address and lots of people have their domain name in their address.  I don't know that I'd call that advertisement.  The Garden Web forum serves the newer Hostaphiles quite well with their questions and thus plays a very important role in the channel of distribution of information about Hostas.  I believe Bevie was instrumental in getting a separate Hosta Forum set up and she does an excellent job of helping to initiate newer gardeners to the world of Hosta.  There are lots of others there that help to answer basic Hosta gardening questions as well.
