Nice illustration of rossizing there at the Hosta Library. It's nice of
Charles to let us in on how his science project is doing. Ran Lydell
does what he calls +ACI-Bud isolation+ACI-. I don't believe Ran cuts all of the
way through the bottom of the rhizome. I think Ran makes deep slits
between the buds. This supposedly breaks apical dominance and increases
division count.
Fall is the time for dormant bud cuttings. My favorite way to divide
hostas.
I still want to learn more about the uses of BAP 10. It also breaks
apical dominance leading to more divisions. The article in the Journal
showed that there was a large difference in cultivar response. Hopefully
more information will follow.
