Hi Narda and Betsy
Just got home from a day trip and read about the clay a little. North
of Waukon about 1 mile is a hill they call Iron Mine Hill. It has this
huge 10 million ton proven iron deposit. The only problem is they can't
figure out how to get it to somewhere they can do something with it
cheap enough to make it pay. They had a small smelter and tried trucking
it out but no go. Anyway they found 2-3 differnt large good quality clay
deposits there when they were messing with the iron. Interesting fact I
think anyway.
Bye
