Hosta seedlings hot frame./Pre sprouting hosta seeds.

Has anyone tried starting hosta seedlings in a small hot frame using
electric soil heating cables?

How about pre-sprouting hosta seeds to get them up and going faster?

I use to grow vegetables starts in this fashion and it worked great. I would
germinate the seeds and broadcast them in the hot frame and cover them with
1/8 inch or so of pro-mix. The seedlings would be up in a couple of days
which gave them a big start over the weed seeds that were soon to follow.

Joe
that is why I have started to be much more selective in what I take the time
to grow. more and more, I grow most ly my crosses. They do give me a much
higher percentage of "keepers" than growing "open pollinated" For many year
I grew around 20,000 seedlings, each year, and ended up keeping about 100
plants for further observation. That has changed I now grow around 5000 each
year, and still have around 100 to "keep"
Thanks

This past fall I only picked up some seeds of Abiqua
