I don't quite know how to put this... but it seems to me that taking the
message at face value certainly wouldn't cause any real damage or harm. 
Why be cynical?  If anyone was interested in having a 'grower-oner'
a personal contact would probably answer alot of questions.  I'm sure
many of the growers on the list have hundreds of seedlings they might
choose not to grow on themselves, having picked out the ones they are
most interested in - what would be the harm in letting this person have
a group of seedlings, you might not otherwise raise anyway?

Best case scenario - you've made an ill man happy and improved his life.
Worst case scenario, you've given away a bunch of plants you probably
would have culled anyway.

He's even offerring to buy some older plants... Do we have to make a
buck on everything?  Consider it your charitable contribution for the
year.
