I think I'll dig up those little fellows and put them in pots for the nonce.  All the ones I bought are growing like Topsy, so obviously I haven't inquired about fertilizing them.  They seem to be doing quite well without.

 

The azaleas are just in a long row the width of the front of the house.  There's room to spud in a few things that can take the same soil and sun or lack thereof.
