August Moon - laying down on the job?

I have two 4-5 year old August Moon clumps..Until now, they've behaved
pretty normally. But this year one of them is laying flat on the ground
instead of mounding. The other one (planted about 10 ft away) looks normal.
The flat one has lots of leaves, healthy ones, and is not limp, just flat.
We had a really mild winter here in East TN, and good spring rains, with
the two weeks or so of intense heat that Richard mentions.. Any suggestions?
