Sorry it should be 1-2 HOURS Feulgen. Most cells in most tissues
are in so-called interphase This means the genes are active but the
chromosomes are fully elongated and impossible to color Only in
mitosis ie when a cell starts to divide the chromosomes "roll up"
and become visible That's why you need Actively growing root tips.
