Hosta Cultivars

Hi All,
Study the booklet of B.Zonneveld "Hosta Sports", I see that sports can found
as shoots from existing plants as well as in tissue culture. Waiting on
shoots seems to me as your are lucky or not, so my conclusion is that most
sports will be found in TC. I'm right? And how they do this? Mixing some
genetic material and than? Is there somewhere an article about this issue in
"normal language". Not to much scientific ?
