Here is information regarding the 1999 MIDWEST REGIONAL HOSTA SOCIETY
Convention. This is being made available so you can begin planning your
1999 calander.
You are invited to join us July 23rd, 24th, and 25th for, Da Hostas
Chicago Style! To be held at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield Hotel, 1800
East Golf Rd., Schaumburg, Illinois. Room rates are $80.00 (single or
double), call (800) 233-1234 before July 1, to guarantee this special
rate. Just mention the Hosta Society Convention. You are encouraged
to book early, as this is a popular Hotel for meetings and weddings, and
could fill early. Limousine service to O1Hare Airport is available for
$17.00 each way.
The convention registration fee before July 1, is $85.00, and $100.00
after July 1. The registration fee covers breakfast, lunch, and banquet
Sat. and the Hostatality room Fri. and Sat. nights, and garden visits
Sat. morning. The Hotel is right across the street from the popular
Woodfield Mall, which is surrounded by many fine restaurants. A shuttle
bus is available from the Hotel to the Mall.
The convention will open with registration beginning at 10:00 am Fri.
with Cut-Leaf Show entries also beginning at 10:00 am. Cut-Leaf Show
judging will begin at 3:00 pm. Judges Clinics I and II will be offered
at 3:00 pm. Dinner Fri. night will be on your own at one of the many
fine area restaurants. A list of area restaurants will be provided in
your registration packet. The Hostatality Room will be open from
7:00-Midnight.
Sat. will begin bright and early with breakfast from 6:00-7:00am. Buses
will depart at 7:15 am for the garden tours. Private vehicles will NOT
be allowed! Handicap vehicles however will be provided. We will return
to the Hotel by noon for lunch. A short business meeting will begin at
1:00, and the auction at 1:30. Please be generous with your donations
and bidding to help support the MRHS. Sat. evening will commence with
cocktails from 6-7pm, and dinner following. The Hostatality room will
be open following the banquet until midnight. Sun. will be optional
tours of fine area gardens.
Please join us for for this exciting event. It is the first time a
major Hosta Convention has been held in the Chicago area.
