Well, you're braver than I am. I never put a single houseplant outside
for fear of bringing in all sorts of nasty critters. My plants do so well
inside that I don't want to mess with their conditions. Our apartment
is quite humid since it's partly underground and the plants love it (we
have to run a dehumidifier in the winter, and it pulls at least a gallon
of water a day out of the air, and it's *still* humid!). It's also been
wetter and cooler than usual here but I'm not complaining--I actually
love the wet Oregon weather.

>All the clearance plants I bought during winter are now doing fine.

I haven't gotten any great deals lately (at least not nearly as good as
yours, Rick!). I did get 25% off a nematanthus that was in perfect shape
except its pot was cracked, got a variegated African violet for $1.50 since
it was out of bloom and no one knew what color it was, and on Sunday
my husband bought me a really pretty orchid that was 30% off since its
label had been lost and no one knew what kind it was, and it was near
the end of it's bloom (I've been frantically searching every orchid site I
can find to indentify it and still no luck). As for the plants I rescued this
winter, the yucca has a new sprout at its base, and my "dumpster
geraniums" are outside blooming like crazy (it's amazing what people
will throw away).
