Re: New subscriber

I have had some success with Kalanchoes. I keep them near a window (south exposure) where they get good light most of the day. I have not, however, put them into "hibernation" to induce bloom, except for one. It did not bloom. But they are pretty "green" also.

I got some gingers several months ago. They were indoors during the winter; I have them out on the back porch now. They are growing very well but have not bloomed yet. I think they won't bloom until next season, as they were just (tubers?) when I got them. Be careful not to overwater--one was overwatered and it croaked.

You may also want to try Cannas, the dwarf type inside. I have not tried this but it seems to me that they would do well if they are given a warm area with a lot of light.

Good luck!

Greetings! I am an avid gardener, both inside and out. I have a houseful of the basic indoor plants, now I'm wanting to try exotics; esp. things that aren't supposed to BE indoor plants. If anyone has had success growing something unusual in their home, please let me know. Thanks, and happy digging!
